More bad weather is coming, but it wont stay for long. Hopefully for the weekend, clear skies will reveal the summit to teams at low camps and reinvigorate climbers heading for the top. On Broad Peak the Austrians and Alfreds international team have announced their summit bids and hope to make it this weekend.

Weather:

Satellite imagery shows much less in the way of high clouds around K2. Expect mainly low to mid level clouds around the Mountain today as well as slightly more stable weather. There is a chance for heavier showers starting tomorrow evening through most of Friday. Winds currently look to be around 5-10 m/s throughout most of the period below 7500m. Winds above 7500m will be a bit stronger with the strongest winds forecasted on Friday as a weak upper level Jet is forecasted to brush by K2. Forecasts call for high pressure to build in northern India on Saturday which could bring dry and more stable weather to the mountain by the weekend. Winds are expected to be mainly NWerly today turning more W/NWerly throughout the rest of the period.

Broad Peak:

Austrian Broad/K2 double Began their climb to the summit.

Chad Kellogg and Alfred Schreilechner: Alfred reports from yesterday; The weather is still bad today. It has been snowing during the night. Before lunch [Kari] Kobler arrived asking whether his people could use my tent at 6500 for one night. They are ascending and want to try the summit in the next days. Tomorrow we also want to go to 6500m to try the summit the following 2 days, if the weather is permitting. We have contradicting weather reports, but we just risk the ascent.
Adventure Peaks The team hopes to be at Camp 3 this weekend.

Field Touring Alpine Will be climbing for the next several days, hope to set camp 3 and 4.

Dutch Climbers hope to sleep at camp 2, one member of the team has dropped out.
