Alfred
Schreilechner Broad Peak and K2 Expedition 2004 update 10 and 11
Update K2 base camp 6/24:
Not much news today. Another expedition member has arrived (Davoud
from Iran). The Base camp is slowly sinking into the snow and the weather
forecast for the next days is bad
Update K2 base camp 6/23:
Fred has come back from Camp 1 on Broad Peak yesterday evening
because an avalanche has missed him only for a short distance there. During
the night we had a lot of new snow. My Tent has been collapsing under the
weight but put it self upright again when I removed it. In the early morning
snowfall stopped for a short time and it got slightly warmer, this triggered a
lot of avalanches. Soon it was snowing again and the temperatures got lower.
Rory and Chad have safely arrived in BC at 12:30. They had spent the night in
Camp 2. There has been more than half a meter of new snow up the mountain
overnight. The next days we can do nothing but wait for the weather to improve
and and the avalanches to come down.
