Stuart Peacock K2 & Broad Peak Expedition 2004 Dispatch 4

Askole is at a height of about 2900m and is quite hot during the afternoon. Tomorrow we will meet the 80 porters we will need to carry all our kit and food to keep us going for the rest of the trip. After that we will head towards the Jola, which is a really dodgy pulley system which spans one of the fast flowing rivers we have to negotiate. Hopefully it's been updated  since Paul Davis' trip in 1990 !

We have been lead to believe that the camps at Paju and Urdukas now have some electricity & shower & toilet facilities. I do hope so because the dust has got into everything here in Askole.

Dave our leader will be flying out tomorrow and will meet us at Base Camp. All has been going well so far except for one problem we found today, the laptop is not charging up from the solar panel. It looks like the panel does not have enough umpf. We have emailed Adventure Peaks to try and organise something to remedy the problem. So hopefully we will be able to continue the emails.

Kelly we are 4 hours ahead here so if I phone on the 16th at 6:00 pm your time (10:00pm our time), at my mums house, hopefully either you or my mum can be there. to take the call.
