Summit !

Yes, we summitted!!

Gordon, Pierre-O, Denis and Olivier summitted on 26 July.

Jamie summitted on 27 July.

26 July - summit

Malte, Mike F, Mehdi, Gordon, Pierre-O, Denis and Olivier began around 1:30am breaking trail in ankle deep (at least) icy cold snow, reaching the Col around 9:15am. Some hard work.

Gordon, Pierre-O, Denis and Olivier reached the False summit around 14:30pm still in tough conditions.

Pierre-O and Denis skiied down from just below the col, reaching Camp 3 with some tidy "8" turns.

More pictures to come later?

27 July - summit

Myself, Paul and Mick Parker from the False Canadian team, and Mehdi  set off on a good day using the trail of the team the previous day, at least as far as the false summit.

The summit ridge is challenging climbing although there is some old fixed rope, and we also fixed some. The peak behind is the north peak of Broad Peak, also over 8000m.

Mehdi became the first Iranian to summit Broad Peak. K2 behind. and just slightly left of his ski poles, the lower, more commonly climbed summit of Broad Peak.

28 July

We cleared the mountain.

29 July - trek out

In quite a rush we pack and begin to trek out. Although originally we planned to trek out over the Gondogoro La, with the porter shortages instead we will trek out the normal route to Askhole, which since we didn't see anything on the way in, is fine by us.

We might be in contact from 1, 2 or 3 August when we reach Skardu.
